Unique multi-map high
score system
We have included
a Chapter-End scoreboard that includes time information (all levels are
timed, and this forms the basis for adjustment of team score with
additional adjustments based on Difficulty settings), Difficulty
percentage adjusters, individual score, team score and chapter
information.

Scoring in Follow
Freeman Coop is on a per “chapter” basis not by the individual map. This
increases the player’s immersion in the game-play and strategies now
have continuity as they must be maintained through a series of levels.
This all adds up to a unique, versatile
system that measures the co-operative performance of the entire team of
players. We call it a “Clan score”
This feature will come to fruition with
the future inclusion of an online high scores table, which will record
players and clans highest scores automatically.
(Community feedback has steered us
towards a traditional high score system rather than stats).
We opted to go
from traditional stats which no-one can do well in without sacrificing
their entire life, to a traditional high scores table instead.
We feel
the best thing about this is that a player or group of players need not
play every day to achieve and maintain a top position and so anyone can
have a session and have a go and get their name up there. And community
feedback has been 100% supportive of this approach.
Time
Penalty
time taken to complete the level eg. deduct 1
point per second.
Difficulty Bonus
this ranges from difficulty 0 = -40% to difficulty
9 = +50%
Cooperation bonus
when a player successfully completes the level he
recieves 50 points AND ALL OTHER TEAM MATES GET 10 POINTS. If a player
dies or is eliminated then he loses 50 points and all other members of
the team receive a -10 point penalty
If a
team is completely eliminated, then they all take a penalty and it is
possible if you keep getting eliminated, to reduce your score to
negative numbers
So if you keep together and all finish
before the timer the team can earn a lot of extra points. And when any
player dies the whole teams potential score is reduced.
At the
end of each chapter the scores are added up to give a team score and
that’s the one we want to use for the high score ( on a chapter basis
not map by map) there will be high scores for 1 player 2 player ......
up to 6 player teams for each chapter (also split into geographic
regions). This should give more people a chance to compete as trying to
organize a large game is not easy but many coop players play with a few
close friends so we feel this would make it easier and more accessible
to wider range of players.
This system is
(by design) generic enough to use on the 3rd party maps so they will all
have a high score table as well as any future content we add. |
